WALL OF HONOR
Class of 1949
Daryl Ferguson
Educator · Foundation Co-Founder · Community Leader
Daryl Emerick Ferguson, Class of 1949, built a life around education, service, and expanding opportunity for others. After San Diego High, she attended the University of Southern California, where she earned a degree in international relations and later began a career in teaching.
Her life took her around the world during her husband’s Foreign Service career, including years in Asia and Latin America. Wherever she lived, education and community service remained central to her work.
Back in San Diego, Ferguson became one of the driving forces behind the creation of the San Diego High School Foundation in 1992. She helped organize the effort to create an independent charitable foundation capable of raising and managing private support for students, scholarships, clubs, athletics, and school programs. The Foundation went on to raise millions of dollars for San Diego High.
Ferguson continued serving her community through education, Rotary, church leadership, senior-services advocacy, and projects that connected young people with opportunities to lead and serve. She regarded the creation of the SDHS Foundation as one of the accomplishments of which she was most proud.
